Reading mixed inch values
- The whole number is added to the fraction.
- 1 3/16 means 1 inch plus 3/16 inch.
- The decimal value is 1.1875 inches.
When to keep a mixed fraction
- Mixed fractions are easier to mark on a ruler.
- Decimals are better for calculators and CNC input.
